One of the current focus areas of effective altruism is animal welfare. A number of promising interventions have been identified within this area.

One type of intervention is corporate campaigning: putting pressure on companies to improve their welfare standards. Another type interventions is outreach campaigns: distributing leaflets, funding online adverts, or giving classes on animal welfare, in order to encourage more people to reduce their consumption of animal products. A third type of intervention is research into animal product alternatives.

Animal charity evaluators lists a variety of other promising interventions, many of which they have not been able to investigate yet (Animal Charity Evaluators 2016).
